Fashion Quarterly readers were invited to Karen Walker's store in new market for an exclusive shopping experience.
Fashion Quarterly readers, new-season Karen Walker, some bargain Topshop garments, a glass or two of sparkling wine and Karen Walker herself, fresh from her critically acclaimed runway show in New York ... what better way to shop? And the 30 Days of Fashion & Beauty guests felt the same way too on Friday’s VIP shopping night at Karen Walker’s Balm St, Auckland store.
The original store has doubled in size recently and been dubbed Playpark because it feels like a woman’s idea of the perfect playground complete with Hunter gumboots (by royal appointment no less) and a small but perfectly formed selection of Topshop pieces.
Karen may have been jetlagged but you wouldn’t have known it, happily offering advice on how to wear pieces to anyone who asked for her expert opinion. Some fast and furious shopping ensued with a lovely incentive from Karen who offered lucky dips (well, we were in Playpark land) for all who bought. But the were no milk bottle lollies in the dips. Rather, kw sunglasses and even the odd piece of cashmere.
